01What is Economics Masters Challenge?

Economics, beyond the classroom.

Economics Masters Challenge is a student-led academic competition designed to take economics beyond textbooks and into the real world.

Participants work in teams to analyze economic problems, interpret data, apply theory, and develop solutions under competitive conditions.

Inspired by rigorous economics curricula while remaining open to students from different academic programs, the Challenge rewards not only what you know, but how you think.

“Turn complex theories into powerful insights.”

Real problems. Real data. Real reasoning.

02The competition

Two rounds. One team.

The Challenge is contested in teams of three. The three-person format applies throughout - both in the analytical round and in the case challenge.

01

Analytical Foundations

A rigorous multiple-choice round testing economic knowledge and reasoning under time pressure.

  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Economic reasoning
  • Conceptual understanding
  • Quantitative thinking
  • Application of economic principles

The 2026 edition used approximately 60 questions.  Roughly 35–40 microeconomics and 20–25 macroeconomics. Format may vary by edition.

02

Case Challenge

A real-world economics and business case solved collaboratively, then defended before the panel.

  • Interpret information
  • Analyze data
  • Identify the economic problem
  • Apply theory
  • Reason through uncertainty
  • Communicate a solution

Scoring emphasises logic, data interpretation, economic reasoning and practical application.
